Job summary

Options for Learning is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support teaching staff by implementing curriculum and enriching classroom experiences for children in Early Learning or School-age programs. This role emphasizes safety, caring environment, and adherence to policies.

You'll collaborate with site supervisor, teachers, and staff, conduct activities, supervise children, and help maintain a high-quality preschool program. Full-time, year-round position with varied schedule.

Qualifications

• Twelve semester units acceptable to licensing in child development, with a minimum grade of C or better.
• Current certification in pediatric CPR and pediatric first aid acceptable to licensure.
• Health screening and TB clearance, renewed every 5 years.
• Must present immunization proof for TDap, MMR, whooping cough, and annual influenza.
• LIVEScan background check required.
• Mandated reporter training must be completed and renewed every 2 years.
• Ability to communicate in written and oral English correctly and effectively.

Responsibilities

• Planning and implementing classroom activities based on program curriculum.
• Supervising and interacting with children in a positive manner.
• Maintaining learning centers reflecting children’s interests and needs.
• Providing diverse experiences with emphasis on active learning.
• Reading and implementing all organization policies and procedures.
• Encouraging language development and respecting language diversity.
• Assisting site supervisor, teacher, and associate teacher as needed.
• Planning or participating in parent meetings and activities.
• Ensuring a clean and sanitary facility daily.
• Recruiting and promoting full enrollment as directed.
