Job summary

Options for Learning is seeking a dedicated classroom assistant to support teaching staff in delivering early learning and school-age programs. The role emphasizes safe, nurturing environments, implementing curriculum, and engaging with children through structured activities.

You will help maintain learning centers, supervise staff and volunteers, and collaborate with families to support each child’s development across languages and cultures in our San Gabriel Valley area campuses.

Qualifications

• Child development associate teacher permit required.
• Preferred: Associate degree in child development or related field.
• Pediatric CPR and pediatric first aid certification acceptable to licensing, renewed every 2 years.
• Health screening and TB clearance renewed every five years.
• Immunization proof for TDap, MMR, whooping cough, annual influenza.
• Background screening completed; mandated reporter training completed every two years.
• California driver's license and reliable auto preferred; Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, or Vietnamese language skills helpful.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement classroom activities based on program curriculum.
• Supervise and interact with children in a positive manner.
• Develop and maintain learning centers reflecting children's interests.
• Provide a variety of active learning experiences in a well supervised, safe environment.
• Create and implement lesson plans; supervise assistant teachers.
• Recruit, train and supervise parent volunteers; communicate with families and staff.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary facility per center policies and safety standards.
• Coordinate activities with school administration and community partners.
• Manage documentation and enrollment paperwork accurately and timely.
