Job summary

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central and Northern Hampshire seeks a full-time Assistant Teacher for the Mary Stuart Gile Early Learning Center. This lab-style program partners student teachers with staff to support children from 6 weeks to kindergarten, emphasizing health, safety and development.

You will assist teachers, engage children, and help maintain records while upholding safety standards and program policies. Growth opportunities exist within a multi-site organization.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age and work with children under direct supervision.
• Some knowledge of child development and latest educational theories and practices.
• Ability to form developmentally appropriate relationships with children and promote positive behavior guidance.
• Must obtain CPR and First Aid Certifications to meet licensing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.
• Responds sensitively to the interests, requests, and needs of individual children and guides behavior.
• Assist with the implementation of curriculum-adapting activities to meet individual needs.
• Record child observation notes for curriculum planning and maintain accurate member records.
• Follow safety, health, and confidentiality policies and procedures.
• Assist teachers with classroom organization and cleaning; support families through communication.
• Provide guidance and role modeling to Club members and support program goals.
