Job summary

SCO Family of Services in New York, NY is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support planning, implementation, and coordination of a comprehensive early education program. You will assist in developmentally appropriate activities and partner with teachers to meet each child’s needs.

You will help develop individual education plans, foster family engagement, and participate in reflective supervision and ongoing professional development to support children’s growth.

Qualifications

• Highschool or GED is required, early childhood experience preferred.
• Ability to participate in reflective supervision and collaborate with staff.
• Strong English language and grammar, both verbal and written.
• Ability to meet deadlines, stay organized, and work under pressure.
• Experience in multi-cultural environments serving vulnerable populations is a plus.
• Proficiency with common office software and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to planning, implementation and coordination of the education program.
• Support the classroom teacher to ensure developmentally appropriate activities.
• Assist with early learning experiences across literacy, math, science, and more.
• Help plan individual education plans and maintain data for children.
• Collaborate with families to promote children's goals and development.
• Maintain a safe, healthy classroom environment and participate in trainings.
• Engage with the Education Director to review data and advance goals.
