Job summary

The Easterseals Gilchrist Marchman Child Development Center in Chicago seeks a Teacher Assistant to support teachers and implement curriculum within an inclusive classroom. You'll help supervise children, communicate with families, and maintain a healthy, safe learning environment.

Responsibilities include assisting with lesson plans, observing and recording progress, and collaborating with a teaching team to meet IEP goals.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education (ECE) is required for some positions and preferred for all.
• A minimum of 30 college semester credits overall with a minimum of 15 in ECE, and an infant-toddler CDA.
• An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in another field, with 30 ECE credits.

Responsibilities

• Support classroom team to include children with identified or suspected disabilities.
• Prepare lesson plans, complete observations, and assess children.
• Follow curriculum and IEP goals throughout the school day.
• Communicate with families/guardians and attend parent meetings.
• Assist with field trips and classroom setup/cleanup.
