Job summary

Shema Kolainu-Hear Our Voices in NYC seeks a Special Education Teacher for Birth to 3 to deliver early intervention in infants and toddlers’ natural environments. You will conduct developmental assessments, develop IFSPs, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support developmental progress.

You will coach families, document progress per EIP guidelines, and travel to home visits across NYC boroughs. A Master’s degree and NYS SPED certification are required; bilingual skills are a plus.

Qualifications

  • Must have Master’s degree in Special Education.
  • Internship Certificate may apply.
  • NYS certification in Special Education (Birth–Grade 2) or equivalent.
  • Authorization as Special Instructor with NYC Early Intervention Program (or eligible).
  • Experience with children 0–3 in home or community settings.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to engage families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Bilingual abilities (Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct developmental assessments using standardized tools and observations.
  • Develop and implement IFSPs with families and a multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide special instruction to promote cognitive, communication, social-emotional, motor and adaptive development.
  • Coach families on strategies to support learning in daily routines.
  • Maintain documentation per EIP and agency requirements.
  • Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and professional development.
  • Collaborate with OT, PT, SLP, and Service Coordinators for coordinated care.
