Job summary

SHORE UP! Inc. in Stockton, MD, seeks an Early Head Start Teacher to implement a developmentally appropriate classroom in alignment with Head Start standards.

The role collaborates with families, staff, and community partners to support young children’s growth across cognitive, literacy, social, and physical domains. Responsibilities include planning activities, assessing progress, communicating with families, promoting health and safety, supervising volunteers, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Holds a current Infant Toddler CDA Credential.
• Preferred: Associate or Bachelor’s in child development or early childhood education.

Responsibilities

• Plan and provide learning opportunities supporting cognition, early literacy and language, social development, play skills, fine and gross motor development, fine arts, adaptive/self-care skills, health, and nutrition.
• Implement ongoing assessment of student progress.
• Follow Early Head Start and school district policies for referring children for diagnostic evaluation when necessary.
• Communicate with families via home visits, conferences, written materials, and informal contacts.
• Promote and model health and nutrition practices for children and families.
• Monitor the health and safety of students at school.
• Use appropriate guidance strategies to teach socially acceptable behavior.
• Maintain written reports and records as required by the program.
• Maintain positive relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community members.
• Involve parents and families in education and development.
• Maintain confidentiality of students and families.
• Provide work directions and supervise classroom volunteers.
• Attend staff meetings and professional development.
• Stay updated on trends and research in early childhood education.
• Select and order classroom supplies and materials.
• Other duties as assigned.
