Job summary

East Bay Community Action Program in Newport, RI is seeking a dedicated Co-Teacher for the Early Head Start program. This full-time role supports infants and toddlers, fostering language development and a nurturing classroom environment.

You will engage families through home visits and conferences, participate in ongoing professional development, and collaborate with specialists to meet each child's needs. A RI credential or related degree with toddler experience is required.

Qualifications

• RI Department of Education teacher certification in Early Childhood Education (or equivalent)
• Bachelor's or Associate's degree in ECE with 3 months supervised teaching experience
• Bachelor's or Associate's in a related field with infant/toddler classroom experience

Responsibilities

• Create Magic in the Classroom (45% of your time): Partner with your lead teacher to design engaging learning experiences that spark curiosity and wonder
• Create Magic in the Classroom (45% of your time): Help little ones discover language, early literacy, math, science, and social studies through play and exploration
• Create Magic in the Classroom (45% of your time): Maintain a classroom that meets the highest quality standards (CLASS and ECERS/ITERS)
• Create Magic in the Classroom (45% of your time): Ensure every child feels safe, valued, and excited to learn
• Create Magic in the Classroom (45% of your time): Support children's social-emotional growth using positive guidance techniques
• Partner with Families (35% of your time): Build meaningful relationships with families through home visits and conferences
• Partner with Families (35% of your time): Empower parents as their child's first teacher
• Partner with Families (35% of your time): Create bridges between home and school that strengthen children's learning
• Partner with Families (35% of your time): Conduct two home visits and two family conferences per child each year
• Partner with Families (35% of your time): Participate in community recruitment events (some evenings/weekends)
• Grow as an Educator (20% of your time): Collaborate with a supportive teaching team
• Grow as an Educator (20% of your time): Pursue ongoing professional development (minimum 20 hours annually)
• Grow as an Educator (20% of your time): Mentor teacher assistants and volunteers
• Grow as an Educator (20% of your time): Work alongside specialists to support all children's needs
