Job summary

Hawkeye Area Community Action Program (HACAP) is hiring an Early Head Start Assistant Teacher to join a dedicated team serving families in our nine-county region. You will support the Teacher in delivering a nurturing, developmentally appropriate program for participating children and may lead classroom activities when needed.

The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–4:00 pm, school day/school year.

Qualifications

• Target Qualifications: AA in Early Childhood Education.
• Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma (or equivalent) and three (3) month of experience working in a child care setting.

Responsibilities

• The Early Head Start Assistant Teacher supports the Teacher in planning, implementing, and maintaining a nurturing and supportive educational program for participating children.
• The Assistant Teacher is the designated lead Head Start staff person at times during the day when the teacher is not present in the classroom.
