Job summary

The Ezra H. Baker Innovation School in West Dennis, MA is seeking an Early Education Teacher to develop and implement high quality programming for preschool and kindergarten students.

The role involves direct instructional support for students with disabilities, adapting materials, and collaborating with licensed staff to meet IEP goals. Responsibilities include data collection, administering assessments, supporting behavior and social-emotional needs, and coordinating with parents on progress

Qualifications

  • Experience working with students on IEPs, including experience with behavior management, data collection, academic instruction and curriculum modification.
  • Experience working in sub-separate setting preferred, but not required.
  • ABA experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to work as part of a team; experience providing supervision of staff (Assistants) preferred
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement high quality programming for preschool/kindergarten aged children
  • Provide direct instructional support to students with disabilities in the classroom or in a separate setting.
  • Implement and/or adapt modifications and accommodations to the environment or curricular materials as directed by the special education teacher/liaison, classroom teacher or related services provider.
  • Collect data regarding students' goals and/or objectives as directed by licensed staff.
  • Support the behavioral/social-emotional needs of children by utilizing pro-active, pro-social problem solving skills.
  • Serve as the special education liaison, write, manage, implement, and monitor progress toward IEP goals
  • Administer and interpret standardized assessments, as well as formative assessments to drive instruction
  • Support special education students by providing assistance with equipment (i.e. assistive technology).
  • Foster student independence while supporting individual needs.
  • Responsible for carrying out tasks that allow students to meet their IEP goals and appropriately function in the educational setting.
  • Tasks may include assisting with behavior, medical, social, academic or self-help interventions.
  • Work may include, but is not limited to assisting with personal hygiene, direct behavior services (such as ABA) and data collection.
  • Maintain proper confidentiality of student records.
  • Supporting the toileting and daily living skills of students can be an essential function of the job.
  • Communicate directly with parents to update them on the status of their child's progress towards IEP goals, behavior management and any other relevant information.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MA Teacher Certification in Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities (PK-8) and Early Education (PK-2), dual certification required
  • Experience working with students on IEPs, including experience with behavior management, data collection, academic instruction and curriculum modification
  • Experience working in sub-separate setting preferred, but not required
  • ABA experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to work as part of a team; experience providing supervision of staff (Assistants) preferred
  • Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply
