Job summary

BCNC’s Acorn Center for Early Education and Care in Boston seeks a Floater Teacher to support high-quality education and care for children aged 15 months to 5 years. You will collaborate with professional teachers, implement developmentally appropriate curriculum, and report to the Director of Acorn Center.

The role requires an associate degree or enrollment in ECE, EEC certifications, and First Aid/ CPR within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in early childhood education (or enrolling in degree program)
• EEC Preschool or Infant-Toddler Teacher certification required
• Must meet health and background check requirements
• Must be certified in First Aid and CPR within 6 months of employment
• Ability to relate well to children, staff, and families
• Respect for differences and ability to work in a multicultural environment
• Experience teaching in multicultural environment and knowledge of Chinese community
• Experience or training in working with parents and special education training

Responsibilities

• Provide emotional, social, educational, and physical care to children enrolled in the program
• Observe, assess, and document each child’s growth and development using TS GOLD twice annually
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized classroom with developmentally appropriate learning areas
• Monitor classroom safety and alert the Director to hazards or need for first aid supplies
• Develop and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum based on children’s interests and cultural backgrounds
• Communicate with parents regularly about activities, curriculum, and child’s progress
• Maintain a positive and respectful attitude toward parents and address concerns professionally
• Attend staff meetings, trainings, and agency-wide events
• Collaborate with the administrative team on policy development
• Provide written Chinese translation as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
