Job summary

Trenholm State Community College seeks an Early College Coordinator to oversee the Dual Enrollment Program, guiding high school students into college courses while still in high school. Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience working with high school students and in orientation/success initiatives.
  • Experience with recruiting and outreach to school partners.
  • At least two years of experience advising or recruiting in higher education.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Early College Coordinator oversees and supports the Early College Dual Enrollment Program, helping high school students transition into college‑level courses while still enrolled in high school. This role manages outreach, guided pathway advising, programming, and student support for those pursuing dual credit, workforce readiness credentials, accelerated college credit, or other postsecondary credentials. Additionally, the Coordinator provides program guidance for student cohorts earning a college degree while completing a high school or homeschool diploma. They collaborate with high school administrators and faculty to ensure students are academically and socially prepared for success in college.

The continuation of the position is contingent upon grant renewal.

Salary Schedule: E1 01

  1. Serve as the primary point of contact for all early college participants and coordinate all aspects of the early college programming for assigned school and service areas.
  2. Collaborate with local high school administrators, counselors, and faculty to ensure effective program implementation.
  3. Assist with determining and ensuring early college admissions, scholarship eligibility, and compliance monitoring.
  4. Coordinate student enrollment to ensure participants meet the eligibility requirements for the Early College program.
  5. Organize informational sessions, presentations, orientation sessions, workshops, and other outreach events to promote the Early College program and prepare students for their college experience.
  6. Coordinate with high school partners, division chairs, and faculty, in procuring course texts and/or materials for early college scholarship recipients.
  7. Provide advisement to assist students in the career and academic exploration and career decision‑making process related to early college pathways.
  8. Work with the Dual Enrollment Coordinator and faculty to develop guided pathways and crosswalk course equivalencies to ensure alignment of courses for dual‑enrolled students completing a certificate and/or associate degree program.
  9. Work to ensure special registration assistance is provided for Early College & Dual Enrollment students, including timely, in‑person visits to high schools to collect materials to meet specified registration deadlines.
  10. Maintain advising plans, and review degree audits, and academic progress for students each enrollment period.
  11. Follow up on early alerts and provide intervention strategies for at‑risk students by communicating with students, counselors, facilitators, and faculty.
  12. Process required enrollment forms and input enrollment data as needed for Early College students.
  13. Assist with end‑of‑year completion ceremonies and appropriate workshops.
  14. Process all correspondence related to early college, including maintaining recruitment materials in each high school service area and maintaining open communication with all faculty and staff to maximize dual enrollment and early college opportunities.
  15. Assist with tracking early college student outcomes, including but not limited to data on recruitment, enrollment, matriculation, retention, success rates, programmatic impact, scholarship distribution, etc.
  16. Ensure institutional compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  17. Establish positive, professional, and effective relationships with area schools, community leaders, and local business and industry.
  18. Stay informed of best practices and trends in dual enrollment programs, early college initiatives, and K‑12 education.
  19. Assume other responsibilities as needed or directed by the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, Executive Vice President, Vice President of Instruction, and/or the President.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  2. Experience working with high school students.
  3. Experience with student orientation/success initiatives and recruiting.
  4. At least two (2) years of experience advising or a student recruitment
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  2. Experience with Banner or a related ERP system.
  3. Experience with a CRM and ERP system; preferably Target X or Ellucian Banner.
  4. Experience with Canvas.
  5. Experience developing academic maps and/or other career planning documents.
  6. Experience advising with Degree Works.
  7. Experience in developing marketing and/or informational materials.
