Early Childhood Unified Teacher 2025-2026

Position Overview

Reports To: Building Principal

Position Purpose: The Early Childhood teacher creates and maintains a program focused on the physical, social, and emotional development of each child. This includes developmentally appropriate activities in cognition, creative expression, communication, social, physical, and emotional areas, tailored to each child's level of comprehension and maturation.

Qualifications
  • Current certification and endorsement in Early Childhood Unified in Kansas.
  • Experience teaching preschool students preferred.
  • Current Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Unified License.
Physical/Emotional Requirements

The incumbent may need to use skills such as speaking, hearing, visual and reading abilities, writing, word processing, mobility, emotional stability, multitasking, stamina, and stress management during the workday.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Provide learning experiences in language arts, physical education, art, music, health, and other subjects suited to pupils' needs.
  • Develop and utilize instructional materials for diverse learners.
  • Foster awareness of personal worth and community roles, encouraging creative expression through art, music, and drama.
  • Offer individual and small-group instruction to meet specific needs.
  • Organize educational trips to community resources.
  • Coordinate work with aides, assistants, parents, and volunteers.
  • Develop activities promoting parent participation.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents via meetings, visits, and conferences.
  • Explain school programs to parents to enhance understanding of pupils' needs.
  • Create a positive climate to encourage acceptable behavior and social skills.
  • Collaborate with staff to address health, attitude, and learning issues.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations regarding early childhood services.
  • Manage and update student information.
  • Set and communicate high expectations for learners.
  • Complete all relevant paperwork.
Terms of Employment

9 months; salary and work schedule to be determined by the Board of Education.

Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated per district policies for certified personnel.

Responsibilities are not limited to this description and may include other duties as assigned.
