Job summary

University of California, Berkeley is seeking an Early Childhood Education Program (ECEP) teacher to support a play-based, emergent curriculum for young children. The position focuses on implementing lesson plans, observing child development milestones, and using DRDP assessments to inform instruction and referrals as needed.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to perform basic computer use, including email and simple data entry.
• Proficiency with MS Word and DRDP Technologies for documentation and assessment.
• Ability to develop lesson plans aligned with emergent curriculum and standards.
• Strong communication with parents and collaboration with team members.
• Knowledge of NAEYC best practices and PITC philosophy where applicable.
• Experience supporting early childhood education in group care settings.

Responsibilities

• Provides primary caregiving in a safe and developmentally appropriate manner aligned with CCL, CDSS, and CDE requirements and ECEP’s curriculum and philosophy practices.
• Maintains daily intake forms and ensures daily professional communication with parents. Escalates issues as needed.
• Prepares materials and classroom opportunities that support children's emerging interests and individual needs.
• Plans activities that stimulate curiosity and supports social-emotional, language, and pre-literacy development.
• Collaborates with classroom team to develop DRDP findings and related CRA observations.
• Coaches substitute teachers, student assistants, and volunteers as part of professional development.
