Job summary

The University of California, Berkeley, seeks a Substitute Teacher for the Early Childhood Education Program to support play-based learning for children aged 3 months to 5 years, under general supervision.

You will assist co-teachers, support child screenings and assessments, and ensure compliance with licensing regulations and DRDP requirements through teamwork and effective communication.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 ECE units required.
• 3+ infant/toddler ECE units or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification; TB health screening clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary caregiving and maintain daily intake and parent communication.
• Record observations and assist with DRDP assessments.
• Prepare materials and classroom opportunities meeting individual needs.
• Support PITC philosophy and NAEYC best practices.
• Collaborate with classroom team to develop programs and summarize DRDP findings.
