The Teacher in the Center Program at Scott Carver Dakota CAP in Apple Valley, MN supports a set of children and families through center activities, home visits, conferences and field trips. This full-time role supervises volunteers and coordinates services to promote early development.

The position requires an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and current Infant/Child First Aid and CPR. A Minnesota driver’s license and clean MVR are also required for this role.

Qualifications

• An Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.
• Current Infant/Child First Aid and CPR Certificate.

Responsabilités

• Organize, operate and maintain Head Start center according to state licensing guidelines and Head Start Performance Standards.
• Write and implement lesson plans following the Creative Curriculum including activities in each lesson to enhance self-esteem, diversity awareness and violence prevention.
• Assess each child’s development using Creative Curriculum Assessment.
• Direct and support Teacher Assistants and Paraprofessionals in the classroom.
• Facilitate open communication with parents and staff to ensure complete services for each child and to integrate component services into the classroom.
• Attend team meetings, Agency and Head Start meetings/trainings, interagency meetings and community events as assigned.
• Encourage and welcome parent and other volunteers in the center, on field trips and other activities.
• Maintain a safe indoor and outdoor environment in all aspects of the program.
• Coordinate snack and meal service with the Teacher Assistants and Paraprofessionals.
• Verifies actual hours worked by support staff
