The Floater provides essential support to Early Childhood Teachers by assisting with classroom activities, maintaining a safe and engaging learning environment, and meeting the daily needs of children.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Candidates must complete 40 hours of DCF training in early childhood education and 5 hours of literacy training. Additionally, a minimum of one year of experience working as an Early Childhood Teacher Assistant is required.
Requires understanding of poverty, a high degree of maturity, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work and communicate with low socio-economic and diverse parents and clients in a professional and diplomatic manner. Ability to verbally communicate and resolve conflicts between pre-school age children. Ability to plan, organize and conduct early childhood education programs. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to use a computer and related software. Ability to administer CPR and First Aid to children and implement safety procedures. Ability to work effectively with others within a multi-disciplinary team framework including staff and volunteers. Ability to supervise and direct volunteers. Demonstrates maturity and sensitivity to issues of faith, culture, and other sources of diversity.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Hearing and speaking ability, which allows for effective oral communication of information. Physical, emotional, and spiritual stamina to handle job-related issues and stress.
Must demonstrate legal authorization to work in the United States. Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Valid FL drivers license with a good driving record and insured vehicle in order to transport self and clients when necessary.
