Job summary

Armed Services YMCA of The U S A in El Paso, TX is seeking a part-time childcare assistant to provide direction for classroom activities and support curriculum implementation. The role focuses on building achievement and belonging among youth and families, starting at $11.50 per hour.

Responsibilities include assisting teachers with lesson plans, ensuring safety, and coordinating with parents. Requires high school diploma or GED, and 1+ year experience with children; Texas driver’s license

Qualifications

• Minimum of High School Diploma or GED.
• AA in ECE, ECD, Education & Teaching or CDA preferred.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Experience, minimum 1 year, working with children in a developmental setting.
• Experience planning, organizing, and implementing age- and developmentally appropriate activities.
• Must have reliable transportation and possess and maintain a valid Texas driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in developing and preparing plans outlining learning experiences and activities.
• Implement program to meet needs and align with lesson plans.
• Ensure children's safety and follow emergency procedures.
• Attend parent-child events as necessary.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary classroom and supervise snack/kitchen areas.
• Participate in staff meetings and required trainings.
• Communicate with parents through the lead teacher.
• Assist with children during transitions and schedule changes.
• Work cooperatively with staff and avoid gossip.
• Interact with children during all activities.
• Observe behavior and discuss with teacher or director.
• Demonstrate flexibility to move between groups as needed.
• Participate in events, field trips, and programs.
• Familiarize with state regulations and policies.
• Support ASYMCA program goals.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.
