Job summary

Hope House STL CDC in St Louis, MO is seeking an Early Childhood - Teacher Aide to support mixed-age classrooms. The role offers an hourly rate of $15–$16 with employer assistance to pursue a CDA credential.

You will assist in implementing curriculum, document progress, communicate with families, and help maintain a safe, engaging learning environment. A 1-year childcare background and an Associate’s degree in ECE are required. CPR/First Aid certification is needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of professional child care experience.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
• High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) to foster a teamwork environment.
• A strong understanding of child development.
• Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
• Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
• Associate’s Degree in early childhood education or related field with a minimum of 30 credits in ECE.
• Ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects/tools, and communicate with and hear voices at many levels; may require kneeling, bending, squatting, or crawling.
• Specific vision abilities including near and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
• Lead by example; encourage teaching team success through modeling and coaching.
• Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and support social, cognitive, and emotional development.
• Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent–teacher conferences.
• Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.
• Maintain a healthy classroom environment, including hygiene, cleanliness, safety, and security of children.
• Supervise teacher assistants and classroom volunteers to ensure adherence to planned activities and safety standards.
• Maintain accurate records, forms, and files.
• Maintain a personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
