The Teacher is responsible for developing a cohesive teaching team, coordinating curriculum, and managing daily classroom activities. They must understand children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development to create a safe, engaging, and stimulating environment that encourages success. Excellent communication skills are essential for interacting with children, parents, and staff, guiding teacher assistants, and resolving concerns.
Duties
- Coordinate and implement educational curriculum based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
- Lead by example; motivate and coach the teaching team.
- Plan age-appropriate activities to promote social, cognitive, and emotional development.
- Communicate regularly with parents through discussions, reports, and conferences.
- Ensure compliance with center policies and state regulations.
- Maintain a healthy classroom environment, including hygiene, safety, and security.
- Supervise teacher assistants and volunteers to ensure adherence to planned activities and standards.
- Keep accurate records, forms, and files.
- Engage in ongoing professional development for continuous improvement.
Requirements
Minimum of 1 year of professional child care experience (we will consider less than one year if you agree to obtain the CDA certification at our expense).
- Strong communication skills and basic computer literacy.
- High energy, teamwork orientation, and positive attitude.
- Understanding of child development.
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
- Must pass background checks and health screening.
- Physical ability to perform duties, including walking, handling objects, and visual acuity.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Nice to Haves
Must be coachable
- Associate's Degree in early childhood education or related field with at least 30 ECE credits.
