Job summary

Primrose School of San Ramon is seeking a dedicated teacher or assistant teacher to supervise daily classroom activities and ensure safety and regulatory compliance. You will apply Primrose Balanced Learning to support children’s curiosity and growth.

The role focuses on implementing lesson plans, assessing development, and collaborating with the Leadership Team on conferences and evaluations. Training and development opportunities, along with competitive compensation, are provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1+ years in teaching or assistant teaching in a licensed early childhood program preferred.
• Knowledge of social, emotional and creative needs of young children.
• Must meet local child care regulatory requirements (ECE units or CDA).

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily class functions for a group of children.
• Observe and enforce health, safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Assess each child’s developmental needs regularly.
• Implement approved lesson plans and Primrose Balanced Learning curriculum.
• Plan parent-teacher conferences and student evaluations with Leadership Team.
• Maintain classroom and playground cleanliness and organization.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
• Uphold professional appearance per employee handbook guidelines.
• Assist in other duties as directed by the Director.

OBJECTIVES

• Responsible for the overall supervision and daily class functions of a group of children.
• Observes all rules and regulations at Primrose School and the local, state or national regulatory agencies pertaining to the health, safety and care of children.
• Assesses each child's developmental needs on an ongoing basis.
• Implements the approved lesson plans and daily classroom schedule in accordance with the Primrose Balanced Learning® curriculum and programming.
• Plans with a member of the Leadership Team the parent-teacher conferences and student evaluations.
• Accepts responsibility for maintenance and necessary housekeeping duties of the classroom, common use areas and playgrounds.
• Attends all required staff meetings, workshops and/or school functions.
• Maintains overall professional personal appearance adhering to the guidelines offered in the Primrose School Employee Handbook
• Assist in other capacities that the Director, or designee, determines is necessary.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• 1+ years of experience teaching or assistant teaching position in a licensed early childhood program preferred
• Knowledge of the social, emotional and creative needs of young children
• Must meet basic requirements of local child care regulatory agency (completion of at least 12 semester units in ECE or child development OR hold a CDA)
  • Infant - Preschool Teachers: 2 year degree in early childhood or related field preferred
  • Pre-Kindergarten Teachers: 4 year degree in early childhood or related field required
  • Kindergarten Teacher: 4 year degree in early childhood and certified to teach in the state in which the school operates required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations.
• For Infant and Young Toddler teachers, they must be able to properly lift infants into and out of a crib.
