General Statement of Job

Under limited supervision, plans and presents innovative, developmentally appropriate learning opportunities for students to develop academic skills. Reports to the Principal.

Minimum Requirements

Requires a valid South Carolina teaching certificate or eligibility. Experience with children in an educational setting is desirable.

Responsibilities
  • Develops a curriculum tailored to students' needs and interests.
  • May teach multiple disciplines.
  • Creates a conducive learning environment.
  • Prepares lesson plans and activities.
  • Guides students toward curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives.
  • Uses varied instructional techniques and media.
  • Grades student work and maintains records.
  • Assesses student progress and reports outcomes.
  • Reports disabilities to specialists as needed.
  • Maintains accurate records as per policies.
  • Supports school policies and manages classroom behavior.
  • Monitors student activities for safety.
  • Provides support for students needing extra help.
  • Supervises assistants and volunteers.
  • Communicates with parents and conducts conferences.
  • Maintains classroom supplies and equipment.
  • Participates in special programs and staff meetings.
  • Attends training and makes arrangements for substitutes.
  • Operates relevant machinery and equipment.
Additional Duties
  • Provides remedial assistance as scheduled.
  • Maintains a clean classroom environment.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications and Standards

Includes physical, cognitive, communication, and interpersonal skills necessary for the role, such as exerting moderate effort, effective communication, applying judgment, and maintaining professionalism.
