Job summary

Kindering in Washington seeks an Early Intervention Specialist to develop and implement individualized programs for children with developmental delays, delivering services in home, community settings, or classrooms.

You will coach families, conduct developmental assessments, coordinate with a multidisciplinary team, and support enrollment in community programs while maintaining thorough documentation and records.

Qualifications

  • B.A. or higher in Special Education; Master’s preferred.
  • Washington State Teaching Certificate with ECE Endorsement preferred.
  • BCBA or Infant Mental Health Endorsement may be considered.
  • Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred.
  • Experience in early intervention or willingness to learn.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
  • Current CPR and first aid certification or obtainable on hire.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement each child’s program and ISP as part of a team.
  • Participate in IFSP meetings with Family Resource Coordinator.
  • Provide services in home or community settings.
  • Coach families and providers as a service model.
  • Assess developmental levels and implement routines-based curricula.
  • Prepare progress reports and maintain records.
  • Oversee training of assistants and volunteers in classrooms.
  • Coordinate enrollment in community/Kindering programs.
  • Coordinate case management meetings with community agencies.
  • Provide outreach and interagency coordination; maintain confidentiality.

PurposeDevelop, coordinate, and implement special instruction or family education/training under Part C of IDEA or early childhood preschool education for enrolled children. Enhance children’s development and learning environments through a combination of direct intervention, groups, and parent coaching.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesDuties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:Participate in the development and implementation of each child’s program and Individualized Service Plan as part of a team.Participate in Individual Family Service Plan meetings in cooperation with Family Resource Coordinator working with the family and other providers to determine appropriate goals.Provide services within the child’s natural environment which includes home based or community based services.Provide parent and/or provider coaching as a service delivery model. Provide families with information, skills, and support relating to enhancing the skill development of infants and toddlers with developmental disabilities or delays.Assess each child’s developmental level of functioning; develop daily and monthly teaching plans; implement routines-based curricula at Kindering, home, or community childcare as needed.Conduct formal evaluations of performance; prepare progress reports; and maintain accurate records of contact for each child.If/when assigned to a classroom, oversee and provide training to assistant educators and classroom volunteers with the assistance of the lead teaching assistant. Facilitate team meetings to discuss specific children and classroom functioning.Coordinate enrollment into appropriate community or Kindering programs, support groups, and other services; coordinate case management meetings with community agencies.Provide or support outreach, intensive informing, care planning, coordination, anticipatory guidance for complex health needs, assistance to access services, consultation, resource development, interagency coordination, training, program planning, quality management, and administration to support Medicaid programs.Required Education & ExperienceB.A. Degree in Special Education or Early Childhood Special Education; Master’s degree preferred.Washington State Teaching Certificate with an Endorsement in Early Child Special Education (preferred) or Special Education.Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Infant Mental Health Endorsement may also be considered as educational requirement.Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred.Experience working in early intervention or a willingness to learn.Willingness to work a flexible schedule.Current CPR and first aid certification or complete upon hiring.Key CompetenciesFamily-Centered CoachingBuilds strong relationships with families and caregivers while providing coaching and support to promote child development within daily routines.Developmental Assessment & InterventionAssesses developmental needs, develops individualized plans, and implements effective strategies to support child growth and learning.Collaboration & Service CoordinationWorks effectively with families, providers, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate services, maintain documentation, and connect families with resources.Minimum PrerequisitesPass Washington State DSHS criminal history and background check and FBI fingerprint checkStrictly maintain confidentiality of all client informationDemonstrate skill in word processing and familiarity with MS Outlook, Word and ExcelPossess valid Washington State driver’s license and valid automobile insuranceHave access to a dependable personal vehiclePass a tuberculosis testAbility to show proof of current immunizations, including COVID-19 and MMR vaccine or titer test**Kindering is subject to multiple executive orders requiring all employees to be vaccinated or apply and be approved for a sincerely held religious belief or medical exemption.
