Job summary

Macon County R-1 School District is seeking a caring, dependable part-time Personal Paraprofessional to support an ECSE student. You will assist with mobility, daily care, transitions, and classroom participation under the supervision of the teacher.

Primary duties include following the IEP and health plans, maintaining confidentiality, and participating in ongoing training to support the student’s needs. This role requires a Missouri DESE Substitute Certificate and successful background checks.

Qualifications

• Must obtain, at minimum, a valid Substitute Certificate issued by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
• Employment is contingent upon successful background checks and fingerprint screenings as required by law and District policy.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized support to an assigned student.
• Assist with entering and exiting wheelchair and other transfers using appropriate procedures and equipment.
• Assist with toileting, diapering, personal hygiene, and other daily care needs.
• Support participation in classroom activities, routines and transitions.
• Follow the IEP, health plan, safety plan, and staff directions.
• Maintain a safe, respectful learning environment and protect student confidentiality.
• Communicate professionally with students, families, and staff; participate in training for the student’s needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervising teacher or administrator.

Job Description

Macon R-1 School District is seeking a caring, dependable individual to serve as a part-time Personal Paraprofessional in the Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) program.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized support to an assigned student
• Assist the student with entering and exiting wheelchair and with other transfers, using appropriate procedures and equipment
• Assist with toileting, diapering, personal hygiene, and other daily care needs
• Support the student's participation in classroom activities, routines and transitions
• Follow the student's Individualized Education Program (IEP), health plan, safety plan, and staff directions
• Help maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment
• Protect student confidentiality and communicate professionally with students, families, and staff
• Complete additional training related to the student's individual medical, mobility, personal-care, behavioral, and educational needs
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher or administrator
