Job summary

Kings Bay YM-YWHA, Inc. JCC Brooklyn is seeking an experienced Early Childhood Site Director to oversee the daily operations of our nursery/preschool program across 3 classrooms in Brooklyn.

You will lead teaching staff, foster a warm, nurturing environment for children and families, and ensure compliance with licensing, health, safety and organizational standards. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education, NYS Teaching Certificate, and at least two years of leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field approved by the Department.
• Valid NYS Teaching Certificate, Initial or Professional accepted.
• Minimum of 2 years of documented experience as a group teacher in early childhood.
• Prior leadership experience in an early childhood setting.
• Strong knowledge of early childhood development and classroom operations.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to supervise staff and manage parent communication professionally.
• Familiarity with Jewish culture and Hebrew language preferred.
• Must meet licensing and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the nursery/preschool site.
• Supervise and guide teachers and classroom staff.
• Ensure a safe, warm, developmentally appropriate and engaging environment.
• Communicate regularly with parents and families.
• Support enrollment, family engagement, events and program communication.
• Ensure compliance with DOH, licensing, safety and organizational requirements.
• Assist with staff scheduling, coverage, attendance and performance.
• Partner with leadership to maintain high program quality and address concerns.
• Support Jewish holiday programming and community-building initiatives.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all staff and family matters.
