Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• CDA credential or 9 college credits in ECE/Child Development from a regionally accredited institution.
• At least 12 months experience in early childhood or OSR approved settings.
• Must hold or obtain a valid substitute certificate.
• Background check must be completed at employer's expense.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all areas of preschool instructional program.
• Provide assistance to students during arrival and departure.
• Assist lead teacher with preparing classroom equipment, materials and supplies.
• Help care for and secure classroom equipment, materials and supplies.
• Conduct academic and social activities with individuals and small groups.
• Assist in preparing class displays and bulletin boards.
• Help with toileting, feeding and personal-care needs.
• Accompany students during transitions (PE, lunch, library, etc.).
• Alert lead teacher to observed needs or concerns with individual students.
• Assist with classroom management and clerical tasks, including behavior observation.

Education

High School diploma or GED

Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) OR 9 college credits in Early Childhood Education/Child Development

12 months experience in early childhood or OSR approved settings

Valid substitute certificate

Criminal background check by Alabama State Department of Education
