Early Childhood Permitted Substitute Teacher

Position Overview

This on-call, hourly non-exempt role involves delivering high-quality early childhood development services, including educational, social, physical, nutritional, and psychological support to children. The substitute will communicate with parents, maintain records, plan lessons, serve meals, and ensure a safe, healthy learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Implement daily lesson plans aligned with curriculum
  2. Supervise children and maintain safety standards
  3. Prepare and serve meals, assist with hygiene and diapering
  4. Plan and lead educational activities and physical exercises
  5. Conduct developmental assessments and maintain accurate records
  6. Support classroom setup and maintain supplies
  7. Assist with parent conferences and home visits as needed
  8. Supervise and provide feedback to Teacher Assistants
  9. Travel to various school locations (minimum 15 miles)
Qualifications
  • Child Development Associate Teacher Permit or higher
  • At least 1 year of experience in a preschool setting
  • Minimum 18 years old with DOJ clearance and Livescan
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • Valid California Driver’s License and auto insurance
Additional Requirements
  • Immunizations (MMR, Pertussis, Influenza)
  • COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption
  • Pre-employment physical and drug screening
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs, stand, sit, kneel, crawl, and perform outdoor supervision
