Program Site Director – Part Time – Northbrook Campus – 60062, IL. This role supports supervising day‑to‑day program operations for the assigned school, camp or youth recreation program.
Location: Northbrook, IL (Various locations within Northbrook). Position type: Part‑time. Education level required: High school. Salary range: $20.00 – $26.00 per hour. Job category: Before & Afterschool Care and related recreation programs.
Pay & Schedule
Hourly starting at $20.00. Monday‑Friday: 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM and 2:15 PM – 6:00 PM (split shift). Summer and school‑day off programs: 8:00 AM – 3:15 PM. Occasional weekends and holidays required. Anticipated start date: 8/3/2026.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee and plan daily activities for assigned school, camp or recreation program or event, including snacks, homework, games, crafts, active play or quiet time.
- Supervise children from arrival to dismissal, ensuring only authorized persons pick‑up participants.
- Ensure safety of participants and staff, promote inclusive caring environment.
- Assist in developing program goals and coordinating implementation by planning required activities.
- Create, plan and implement activities for program participants.
- Improve operational procedures by providing recommendations.
- Track program participant attendance accurately and conduct routine head counts.
- Plan and supervise engaging off‑site activities for school day‑off programs and others as directed.
- Maintain open communication with parents providing program updates and feedback.
- Collaborate with internal and external customers, act as liaison between counselors, instructors, parents and children, and direct supervisor.
- Keep worksite neat, clean and equipment put away properly.
- Maintain updated inventory of items, determine supplies needed and secure them.
- Supervise counselors and staff in leading program activities and interacting with participants safely.
- Conduct staff performance evaluations as directed.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and trainings as required.
- Follow and adhere to safety policies, Employee Handbook and related operations manuals issued by Northbrook Park District.

Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years old and have at least two years of experience working hands‑on with children. Two years of prior youth program or summer camp program experience as a camp counselor or childcare worker, or an equivalent combination of training and experience, is required. Enrollment in, or completion of, a college degree in education, recreation, or related field is highly desirable. A valid Illinois Driver’s license is desired but not required.

Knowledge
- Leadership capabilities to create an inclusive environment for children and staff while implementing recreational activities.
- Hands‑on experience working with children.

- Microsoft Office or similar business systems.
- Completion of Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) online Mandated Reporter Training within one week of hire.
- Completion of CDC Concussion Awareness Training within one week of hire.
- CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain within three months of hire.
Physical Requirements
The employee must frequently sit or stand for long periods of time, talk or hear, use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, couch, or crawl, and may occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Bending, stooping, carrying, and twisting will be required.
