Job summary

VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA SOUTH CENTRAL LOUISIANA in Lafayette, LA seeks a Mental Health and Development Clinician to support families referred to Child First. This full-time exempt role focuses on relationship-based, dyadic therapy with caregivers and young children, using CPP methods within home visits.

The ideal candidate is licensed or license-eligible at the master's level, with experience in early childhood mental health, and has strong communication and documentation skills.

Qualifications

• Licensed or license-eligible master’s level mental health provider.
• Experience providing mental health assessment and consultation to early care and education sites preferred.
• CPP training is highly valued.
• Ability to speak a second language (Spanish, Portuguese, Creole, other) highly valued.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Proficient with Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Engage with the Child First family and the Care Coordinator in the collaborative family assessment process.
• Develop a thoughtful, well-integrated clinical formulation and Plan of Care with the Care Coordinator and family.
• Provide home-based psychotherapeutic intervention with CPP and other modalities.
• Help the caregiver gain insight regarding personal history and parenting practices.
• Support crisis situations with the Care Coordinator and Clinical Supervisor.
• Provide mental health and developmental assessment and consultation within early care and education settings and to other providers.
• Embrace videotaping to enhance therapeutic work and supervision.
• Participate in weekly reflective clinical supervision with the supervisor.
• Engage in the Learning Collaborative and training activities.
• Track completion of assessments and data-entry in the database.
• Maintain documentation for accountability and reimbursement.
• Meet home visiting Benchmarks and Accreditation standards.
• Participate in other clinical and administrative activities as appropriate.
• Knowledge of attachment theory, trauma effects, and early brain development.
