Job summary

The Village for Families and Children in Hartford, CT is seeking a Family Support Worker. This entry-level, full-time role supports Early Childhood Learning Center families by coordinating enrollment and promoting family engagement, with a focus on social-emotional development. Starting salary is $50,000.

The position requires a valid driver’s license, own vehicle, and ability to work in homes and schools. Strong communication skills and bilingual English/Spanish are preferred, with benefits

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree in early childhood, human services or related field preferred.
• Must have current valid state Driver's License and own vehicle.
• Automotive liability insurance per agency standards; driving to home visits required.
• Team player; able to work in diverse environments including schools and court.
• Bi-lingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
• Proficient with word processing and spreadsheet applications; Windows experience required.

Responsibilities

• Develop strength-based service plans addressing identified challenges.
• Maintain collaboration with primary care providers and community services.
• Maintain accurate client records and confidentiality at all times.
• Demonstrate creativity, innovation and resourcefulness in service delivery.
• Model positive Parent-Child interactions with families.
• Conduct home visits for assigned families and provide parenting and child development education.
• Complete program assessments and agency documentation; testify in court as needed.
