Great Basin College in Elko, Nevada seeks an enthusiastic Early Childhood Educator to join the Child and Family Center. This is a full-time, administrative faculty role on a 12-month A contract, with a salary range of $36,385 – $47,000, depending on education and experience.

The educator will develop age-appropriate curriculum, ensure a safe learning environment, collaborate with staff, and participate in ongoing professional development to meet NAEYC and QRIS standards.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education or completion of 24 credits in ECE/HDFS with three years of teaching experience.
• Three to five years of Early Childhood Education classroom experience.
• Evidence of strong written and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office Suite and Smart Boards.
• Demonstrated organizational, planning, analytical and problem solving skills.
• Ability to respond, make decisions and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of NAEYC accreditation and Nevada Silver State Stars QRIS, ECERS/ITERS and Pyramid Model.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and participate in caring for the children's well‑being and safety.
• Provide and create lesson plans to develop age-appropriate cognitive and social skills.
• Implement and teach the Pre‑Kindergarten Standards through classroom activities.
• Set-up and maintain an age-appropriate center-based learning environment meeting NAEYC standards.
• Conduct teacher/parent conferences twice a year.
• Organize monthly parent/teacher trainings or activities.
• Prepare and send home 'Homework on Wheels' with each child once a month.
• Instruct a full day preschool session for 3-4 year olds, Monday through Friday with 20 students.
• Work a minimum of 40 hours per week under the Center Director.
• Model professional attitudes and promote positive public relations.
• Participate in college committees and adhere to licensing standards.

Job Description

Great Basin College (GBC) is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and student-centered professional to join the Child and Family Center as an Early Childhood Educator.

This is a full-time, non-tenure-track administrative faculty position on an \"A\" (12-month) contract, located at Great Basin College's main campus in Elko, Nevada.

The position reports to the Director of the Great Basin College Child and Family Center.

Early Childhood Educators are responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment while developing and implementing curriculum in accordance with the philosophy and policies of the Great Basin College Child and Family Center, NAEYC, Nevada Silver State Stars QRIS, and the Pyramid Model. Educators collaborate with colleagues, enhance curriculum and lesson plans, and participate in ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Implement and teach the Pre‑Kindergarten Standards through appropriate activities in the classroom;
• Set-up and maintain an age‑appropriate, center‑based learning environment which meets the requirements of NAEYC Accreditation, as well as the TACSEI TPOT and ECCERS assessments.
• Conduct teacher/parent conferences twice a year.
• Organize monthly parent/teacher trainings or activities a minimum of once a month.
• Prepare and send home \"Homework on Wheels\" with each child once a month.
• Instruct a full day preschool session for 3-4 year old children, which operates Monday through Friday with 20 students enrolled in the class.
• Work a minimum of 40 hours per week under the supervision of the Great Basin College Child and Family Center Director.
• Model attitudes, behaviors, and techniques which contribute to the overall harmonious operation of the program;
• Promote positive public relations with all contacts within and outside of the Child Family Center;
• Other duties appropriate to the position as assigned by the Director.
• Participate in college committees and activities as appropriate or assigned.
• Follow all guidelines as required by the Great Basin College Child and Family Center Staff Handbook, and adhere to all licensing standards as set forth by the Nevada Bureau of Services for Child Care.

Compensation Grade

Administrative Faculty - A

This is a 12 month \"A\" contract position, 12 month contracts are used for year round programs.

The budgeted salary range for this position is $36,385 - $47,000

Salary is based on relatable education and experience, internal equity and budgets.

Grants-in-aid for Faculty Employees

Great Basin College is proud to provide a reduced-rate tuition benefit to faculty and qualified dependents. Faculty can take up to six credits per semester at a reduced rate. Dependents of faculty have unlimited credits, but in order to be eligible children must be unmarried and under the age of 24 and must receive at least 50% of their financial support from the employee and/or employee's spouse or domestic partner.
