Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent as required by WV Code §18A-2-5
• Criminal background check as required by WV Code §18-5-15c
• Meet the WV Code §18A-4-8e qualifications
• Transportation aides: CPR/First Aid to remain qualified
• Transportation aides: wheelchair/harness training for buses
• Aides must complete 36 hour post-secondary requirement as defined by policy 5202

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in supervising children in classroom and other areas
• Provide individualized and small-group instruction
• Assist with bus supervision and safety for student passengers
• Prepare materials and assist with classroom activities
• Support students according to IEP and district objectives
• Maintain confidentiality and classroom inventory
• Attend required staff development hours
• Perform basic clerical duties as needed
• Assist with snacks, feeding, toileting, and care for special needs students
• Ride a bus with a student if required by role

Education

High School diploma or equivalent

Criminal background check

State-approved competency test (as required)

CPR/First Aid certification (for Transportation aides)

Wheelchair/harness training (for Transportation aides)
