Job summary

Florida Gulf Coast University’s Little Eagles Learning Center is seeking an OPS Non-Student Classroom Teacher Assistant to support teachers and care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. The role includes assisting with classroom activities, maintaining a clean, safe environment, and helping with meals and cleanup.

This position requires completion of DCF training hours within set timeframes, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must complete 45 DCF training hours within 90 days of hire.
• Must complete 1-hour DCF Safe Sleep Practices for Child Care within 30 days.
• Must complete 5-hour DCF Child care Personnel Orientation Course within 7 days or 1 hour Universal Precautions/Exposure Training with director.
• Must complete Infant/adult CPR and first Aid within 90 days.
• Must complete 5-minute Fire Extinguisher Training by the first day.

Responsibilities

• Assists Teachers to ensure the safety and welfare of infants, toddlers, and preschool children.
• Ensures a clean, orderly, and healthy environment for the center including washing dishes, doing laundry, and cleaning playgrounds and classrooms.
• Collaborate with teachers to create a nurturing and supportive learning environment.
• Follow center policies and procedures, including health and safety protocols, to ensure compliance and minimize risks to children and staff.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
