Job summary

Columbia Child Development Program is recruiting a Behavioral Health Assistant to support young children in a Head Start classroom. You will work closely with staff to promote social–emotional development, implement PBIS techniques, and provide individual support to children showing challenging behaviors.

This role emphasizes teamwork, confidentiality, and participation in regular meetings. A high school diploma and at least one year of relevant experience are required, with PBIS training

Responsibilities

• Support children's social–emotional development using PBIS techniques.
• Lead PBIS activities to teach emotional regulation and positive interactions.
• Provide one-on-one behavioral support to children with challenging behaviors.
• Collaborate with staff to develop and implement individualized behavior plans.
• Attend weekly meetings to review progress and plan new strategies.
• Participate in PBIS staff trainings and monthly team meetings.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding children and families.
• Keep PBIS materials organized and inventoried.
• Communicate regularly with the Mental Health Manager.
• Advocate for Head Start in the community.
