Job summary

Tree Frog Learning Center in York, ME is expanding its teaching team and seeking an Assistant Teacher who brings love and patience for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years. You will support a play-based, storyteller-driven curriculum and help create a warm, safe classroom environment.

Responsibilities include assisting the Lead Teacher, supervising activities, communicating with families, and helping with naps, snacks, and progress tracking.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; CDA preferred with support toward CDA.
• Current Child CPR & First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Maine DHHS background checks, SBI screening, and fingerprinting required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Teacher in developing a play-based curriculum with storytelling and hands-on learning.
• Observe children to support self-esteem and social skills; help resolve peer conflicts.
• Organize nap and snack times with active supervision for safety.
• Track children's progress and communicate with families about backgrounds and needs.
• Maintain a clean, sanitized classroom per health and safety standards.
• Collaborate with Lead Teachers, Floats, and center directors to support daily routines.
