Job summary

University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Children's Learning Center seeks an Early Childhood Education Assistant Teacher to support curriculum planning and development of cognitive, social, language, and physical growth in young children.

Under the Lead Educator, you will assist with routines, document progress, mentor student staff, and maintain safe, compliant classroom environments according to licensing and accreditation standards. POPE screenings may be required.

Qualifications

• NAEYC education requirements for Assistant Teacher (12 college credits in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, and/or early childhood special education).
• Minimum of 6 months documented experience teaching children between 6 weeks and 5 years in an early learning program.
• Certification in hands-on Pediatric First Aid, AED and CPR required at start date and maintained during incumbency.

Responsibilities

• Updates and organizes individualized and developmental educational plans for children.
• Assists with basic technical and administrative classroom support.
• Maintains the safety and physical well-being of children in a designated classroom.
• Documents effective communication with internal and external stakeholders to relay information and provide updates on child activities.
• Plans and facilitates classroom programming and coordination for an early childhood education facility.
