Job summary

YMCA of Central Stark County (Ohio) seeks Assistant Teachers to model positive behavior for infants through school-age children, guiding safe, healthy, and engaging experiences while ensuring supervision.

Flexible shifts 6:30am–6:00pm, Monday through Friday, with support for curriculum, lesson planning, and family communication. Part-time positions include complimentary YMCA memberships and discounted childcare.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old.
• High school Diploma required.
• Ability to be on feet for 3–4 hours during activities.

Assistant Teachers who will serve as a professional role model for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and/or school agers by leading through example, encouraging healthy and safe behaviors, and creating a positive experience while ensuring safety and proper supervision.

Position Description

• Flexible shifts between 6:30am-6:00pm Monday through Friday
• Assist in implementing curriculum within the established guidelines.
• Contribute to the creation and implementation of daily lesson/activity plans.
• Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities.
• Help make ongoing, systematic observations of each child.
• Maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents.
• Maintains program site and equipment.
• Maintains required program records.
• Maintains training in First aid, CPR, Communicable Diseases and Child Abuse Awareness as well as 10 hours of Ohio Approved training per year. (trainings provided by YMCA and affiliates)
• Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.

Minimum Qualifications

• At least 18 years old
• High school Diploma
• Ability to be on feet for 3-4 hours at a time leading and participating in activities

Preferred Qualifications And Skills

• Previous experience in early care and education setting

Starting Pay

$12.35- $13.35/HR

• Part-time staff receive complimentary memberships and discounted rates for childcare and most programs.
