Job summary

The Learning Experience in Enfield, CT is hiring an Assistant Teacher to support the care, learning, and development of infants, toddlers, and/or preschool children. You will work with a Lead Teacher to maintain a safe, engaging classroom and support children through daily routines and activities.

Responsibilities include engaging children in age-appropriate learning, building positive relationships, encouraging communication and social development, and helping create a positive classroom

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Childcare, daycare, preschool, nanny, camp, babysitting, or teaching experience preferred.
• Early Childhood Education coursework or training preferred.
• Dependable with strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Must meet applicable state licensing, background screening, health, and training requirements.

Responsibilities

• Engage children in age-appropriate learning, play, and activities
• Build positive relationships with children
• Encourage communication, confidence, and social development
• Help create a positive classroom experience
• Assist the Lead Teacher with lessons, activities, routines, and transitions
• Maintain active supervision and support children's safety
• Assist with feeding, diapering, toileting, dressing, and other age-appropriate care
• Follow classroom procedures and center policies
• Help maintain a clean and organized classroom
• Work collaboratively with Lead Teachers and center leadership
• Support communication with families about children's daily experiences
• Treat children and families with patience, respect, and professionalism
• Contribute to a supportive classroom and center team
