Job summary

Child Development Schools in New Bern, North Carolina, is seeking an Assistant Teacher to join our early childhood education team. You will work alongside the Lead Teacher to create a classroom filled with discovery, creativity, learning, and joy, supporting young learners through meaningful experiences.

You will help cultivate a warm, welcoming environment where children feel safe, supported, and excited to explore. This role emphasizes collaboration with families and daily notes on development.

Responsibilities

• Support the Lead Teacher in delivering age-appropriate lessons and activities for the Infant, Toddler or Preschool classrooms
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom that meets licensing and ratio requirements
• Engage directly with children during activities, meals, transitions, and outdoor time
• Observe children and share developmental notes with the Lead Teacher
• Build relationships with families through warm, consistent daily communication
• Assist with classroom documentation including attendance and daily reports
