Job summary

Hastings ISD 200 is seeking a Substitute Early Childhood Assistant to support teachers in our community education programs at the Tilden Community Center. You will assist with activities, supervise children, and help maintain a nurturing learning environment for young children.

The role features flexible substitute hours, a starting wage of $18 per hour, and collaboration with staff to support social-emotional development and daily routines while upholding confidentiality and professional

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
• Ability to relate to young children with warmth, patience, enthusiasm and respect.
• Ability to actively supervise children, support student needs, and maintain a safe environment.
• Ability to follow teacher direction, work cooperatively, and communicate effectively with staff and students.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with classroom activities, learning experiences and daily routines.
• Provide active supervision of children throughout the program day.
• Support children positively in developing social, emotional and independence skills.
• Assist children during transitions, meals/snacks, toileting and other daily routines as appropriate.
• Prepare, organize and clean classroom materials and learning spaces.
• Follow established health, safety and emergency procedures.
• Work cooperatively and collaboratively with teachers, program staff and families.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional communication.
• Report to work on time and complete assigned hours.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

General Information

Hastings Community Education is seeking substitute Early Childhood Assistants to support our early childhood programs as staffing needs arise. Substitute hours are flexible and will vary depending on program needs and staff absences.

This position works with young children in a welcoming, caring and engaging learning environment. Early Childhood Assistants support classroom activities, routines, supervision and the social-emotional development of children while working collaboratively with teachers and other program staff.

Reporting Relationships

Works under the general supervision of the Early Childhood Supervisor and receives daily work direction from classroom teachers and program staff.

Responsibilities
