Job summary

Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe is seeking a Child Care Teacher Assistant to provide a safe, nurturing environment with developmentally appropriate activities under the guidance of the Lead Teacher. Responsibilities include supporting curriculum implementation, documenting daily observations, and communicating with parents and staff.

Knowledge of Mohawk language and traditions is preferred. The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and at least 1 year of experience with children under 6.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year experience working with children under 6.
• Knowledge of Mohawk language and traditions preferred.
• First Aid and CPR preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide children with a safe, comfortable environment and age-appropriate activities.
• Assist Lead Teacher in implementing curriculum and developmentally appropriate practices.
• Maintain accurate classroom documentation and communications with families.
• Dress children and change diapers as needed and teach healthy habits.
• Support positive behavior and independence in children.
• Ensure a safe, organized play environment and follow sanitation policies.
