Job summary

Wayne Metropolitan Community Action Agency is seeking a dedicated Early Childhood Assistant to support daily programming for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers in a nurturing, inclusive classroom. Under supervision, you will help plan activities, assist with lesson plans, support children needing extra attention, maintain attendance and meal records, and engage with families.

Qualifications

• Associates in Early Childhood/Child Development preferred; CDA credential or in CDA program to be completed within one year.
• Enrolled in a program leading to an associate or bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood/Child Development and have completed 12 credit hours in the major area.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning daily programming under supervision.
• Participate in development of daily lesson plans.
• Assist children needing special attention and care.
• Create and maintain a safe, inviting environment for children and parents.
• Direct classroom activities in groups as assigned by the teacher.
• Plan and prepare materials for daily activities.
• Assist with daily cleanup and care of classroom.
• Maintain attendance, meal counts, and daily summary logs.
• Assist in observing and recording child development progress.
• Participate in team meetings and training.
• Interact with children, parents, and staff with respect.
• Assist in child dismissal and bus loading procedures.
• Comply with licensing regulations and performance standards.
• Assist in developmental screenings and family service plans.
