Primary Responsibilities
- Carry out weekly curriculum written by New Creations and fully accredited
- Delegate tasks and give direction to other staff in the classroom
- Follow the daily schedule outlined by New Creations
- Work together with classroom staff to maintain a clean and safe learning environment
- Develop relationships with families and communicate about updates, child progress, classroom activities, and additional information
- Conduct conferences twice a year, completing assessments for each individual child
- Interact and co‑play with children
- Maintain children's physical appearance, health & well‑being, and happiness throughout the day using positive approaches
- Perform additional duties as needed
Minimum Qualifications
- Previous childcare experience, preferably in a childcare center environment
- For teacher/assistant teacher positions – meets DCYF education & experience requirements
- Exemplifies the standards and characteristics of a New Creations employee: responsible, flexible, reliable, positive role model, etc.
- State DHS background check and fingerprints confirm no felony convictions or other criminal records that would render the applicant unsuitable for a child care center
- Certification in Adult & Pediatric First Aid & CPR completed within 30 days of employment
- SUIDS & AHT completed on first day of employment
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Ability to travel on an ongoing basis
- Extensive standing and walking; sitting on the floor and on low (12") chairs
- Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling
- Lifting and carrying children extensively in the infant/toddler program; less frequently in the preschool program, but the children are heavier
- Frequent moving of equipment (cots, tables, etc.)
- Pushing children in buggies, strollers, and walking for considerable periods
- Necessity of being outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Exposure to unpleasant odors and fluids caused by vomit (occasional) and bodily elimination
- Relatively frequent exposure to loud noises (baby crying, toys falling, and other common occurrences of children at play)
