Job Description
Join the legal frontline and champion the defense for both the insured and the Company! As an early career Trial Attorney, you'll handle no-fault, bodily injury, property damage lawsuits, and more, with thrilling trials, arbitrations, and mediations. Beyond the courtroom, you'll provide vital counsel to business clients and coordinate between legal teams. Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of insurance defense litigation from case inception to verdict, including initial case assessment, discovery, depositions, motion practice, pre-trial negotiations, courtroom advocacy, and post-trial motions to ensure favorable outcomes for clients.
- Gather and organize documents, evidence, and legal research for cases, including preparation for hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions.
- Conduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents; prepare summaries and reports.
- Prepare and draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other legal documents.
- Interview clients and witnesses, draft summaries of their statements, and maintain communication records.
- Attend court hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings to observe and assist as needed; may represent the company or clients in routine matters.
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations and assist in updating the legal team on potential impacts to ongoing cases.
- Participate in training sessions and mentorship programs to develop legal skills and gain exposure to more complex legal work.
Education
- Juris Doctorate and active membership in good standing with the Maryland State Bar
Minimum Requirements
- 0 – 3 years related experience
- Successful completion of courses focused on legal research, writing, and analysis, demonstrating the ability to conduct thorough legal research and draft clear, well-structured legal documents.
- Strong time management skills, effectively balancing multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Ability to organize case files, manage legal documents, and understand the discovery process.
- Effective communication with clients, preparing summaries, and maintaining records of interactions.
- Knowledge of legal ethics and standards of professional conduct.
- Fundamental negotiation techniques and strategies for client interactions and settlement discussions.
- Must be within commuting distance to courthouses throughout Maryland.

Compensation
The role offers an annual salary range of $66,800.00 - 120,650.00, based on experience and qualifications.
