Job summary

Shive-Hattery's West Des Moines, IA office is seeking a Civil Engineer with 0–3 years of experience to join the Public Infrastructure - Transportation team. You will gain hands-on experience in transportation and municipal design while contributing to community-focused projects in Iowa.

You will work on roadway and intersection design, corridor studies, traffic operations, and multimodal improvements, with exposure to stormwater, utilities, CAD drafting, and field observation, guided by mentors

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college/university.
• 0–3 years of professional experience; FE exam planned or taken.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with CAD tools (Bentley/OpenRoads Designer and/or AutoCAD/Civil 3D).

Responsibilities

• Focus on transportation engineering design including roadway and intersection design.
• Contribute to stormwater, site grading, and public utilities design.
• Prepare CAD drawings, technical reports, construction documents, estimates.
• Gain field experience through construction observation and coordination with contractors.
• Work across multiple sectors within the firm as needed.
