Job summary

Rivian is seeking an Exterior Trim Engineer in Illinois to join a dynamic team responsible for launching and refining exterior systems from prototype through production. You will be the first contact for build issues, collaborating with design engineers and plant teams to ensure quality and timely delivery.

Candidates should have a Bachelor's in Engineering or related field with 2+ years of relevant experience, CAD design skills, and knowledge of GD&T.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • CAD design experience for Exterior Trim commodities including GD&T/variation management in an industrial environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support launch activities and production ramp across Exterior Trim systems.
  • Be the first point of contact for build issues and resolve them, coordinating with design engineers and Managers.
  • Deliver Exterior Trim engineering requirements from prototype to production.
  • Represent Exterior Trim Engineering with the plant team during launch and maintain inter-departmental relationships.
  • Apply engineering knowledge to resolve problems during prototype and production builds.
  • Validate requirements and ensure changes to specifications are verified.
  • Drive continuous improvement with focus on quality, cost, and delivery.

Role Summary

Responsibilities

Support launch activities and production ramp across Exterior Trim systems. Communicate effectively across various internal groups Be the first point of contact for all issues found on the builds and resolve, calling in support from the design engineers and Managers when required. Responsible for delivery of Exterior Trim engineering requirements from the prototype phase through to stable production. Represent Exterior Trim Engineering with the plant team during launch, maintaining strong inter-departmental relationships amongst the other teams. Apply broad engineering knowledge and expertise to resolve problems during Prototype and Production builds. Hands-on Validation of requirements, and ensuring verification of changes to specifications Ensure lessons from robust root cause actions are being driven back to core and advanced engineering teams. Drive continuous improvement efforts in all areas of engineering management with a clear focus on quality, cost, and delivery. Communication /working relationship with ESS Lead cross functional teams to deliver RC resolution

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field +2 years of experience in an engineering role related to Exterior Trim manufacturing equipment and processes preferred Excellent communication and presentation skills. CAD design experience for Exterior Trim commodities including an excellent understanding of those systems & components which surround & interface to your commodity including GD&T/variation management in an industrial environment Experience delivering multiple vehicle programs to production, with specific experience in Exterior Trim commodities Desire to work in a cross functional team to understand and resolve complex production concerns. Able to drive and solve complex problems, using advanced problem-solving techniques to determine containment, root cause analysis, countermeasure, and lessons learned. A strong understanding of the first-principles physics of your system – the loads, forces, overall function of the system and key attributes. strength of materials thermal, heat transfer CATIA V6, PC literate and proficient with the use of Google Workspace products.

Pay Disclosure

The salary range for this role is $77,900 - $86,600 for Illinois based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs. The successful candidate may be eligible for annual performance bonus and equity awards. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits for full-time and part-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26, including but not limited to paid vacation, paid sick leave, and a competitive portfolio of insurance benefits including life, medical, dental, vision, short-term disability insurance, and long-term disability insurance to eligible employees. Full-time employee coverage is effective on their first day of employment. Part-time employee coverage is effective the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
