Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque seeks an R&D Chemical Engineer to join the Purchased Product Value Stream. You will serve as the technical interface to product realization teams and the supplier base for chemical materials used in nuclear weapon design, development, and production activities.

You will guide from concept through delivery. You will lead supplier qualification, drive experiments to close knowledge gaps, and help define acceptance criteria across the product life cycle.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical interface to product realization teams and the commercial supply base for chemical materials.
• Participate in the product realization process from design through delivery and define requirements.
• Manage identification, development, and qualification of suppliers to meet weapon requirements.
• Lead experiments to improve material understanding and design definition.
• Anticipate risks and lead technical evaluations and decision-making.
• Oversee product design definition through the life cycle and establish acceptance criteria.
• Apply quality management systems and develop verification/qualification plans.

Education

Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline

Graduate degree in Chemical Engineering or related field
