Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in New Mexico seeks an Early Career R&D Mechanical Engineer to safely manufacture Neutron Generators and advance new processes for Neutron Tubes. This role supports a specialized, high‑tech production environment with emphasis on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

You will drive cycle time and yield metrics, oversee production equipment, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to move qualification and process development forward efficiently.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent combination of education and engineering or scientific experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q level security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture Neutron Generators for War Reserve weapon systems and develop new processes.
• Maintain technical oversight for Neutron Tube Production equipment and address performance issues.
• Identify new technology and author initial work instructions for Neutron Tubes.
• Provide guidance to process technologists and support daily operations on the production floor.
• Propose continuous improvement initiatives to improve Center metrics.
• Collaborate with partners to advance equipment qualification and process development.
