Job summary

GE Aerospace Research in Niskayuna, NY seeks an early career Research Engineer for the Propulsion and Power Systems Laboratory. You will contribute to system-level propulsion and power concepts, work with MATLAB, Python, NPSS, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to advance next-generation aviation technologies.

Ideal candidates hold a Master’s in a STEM field, have fundamentals in thermodynamics and fluid mechanics, and are prepared to obtain security clearance.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a STEM field related to propulsion and power systems.
• Foundational knowledge in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Work safely and build sound research practices across analysis, build, and test activities.
• Apply engineering fundamentals to defined analysis tasks and contribute to system-level assessments.
• Work with models and simulation tools; add features and run sensitivity studies.
• Support sub-system and system-level test campaigns, including data reduction and test execution.
• Contribute to safety assessments and test design decisions.
• Learn how the system fits together and collaborate across disciplines.
