Job Description Summary

GE Aerospace Research is seeking an exceptional early career researcher to join our Robotics & Autonomy Lab as a Robotics & Autonomy Engineer. You will build deep technical expertise in Robotics while developing the organizational intelligence and leadership skills that define Research's technical leaders.

At GE Aerospace Research's Robotics & Autonomy Lab, we advance the future of flight through breakthroughs in robotic manufacturing automation and vehicle/mission autonomy. We develop technologies to enable high‑mix low-volume work cell that operate independently and alongside human teammates without bespoke retooling. We also create autonomous solutions for uncrewed and reduced‑crew vehicles spanning sensing, localization, navigation, mission planning, and execution.

Your first three years at Research include structured development to accelerate your growth: establishing your technical foundation in your home lab, strategic stretch assignments that provide breadth across our capabilities, and connection to a cohort of early career peers. Through independent research, structured projects, coursework, and mentorship, you'll progress from foundational researcher to recognized technical contributor ready for long-term impact in aerospace innovation.

  • Exceptional academic performance with research orientation (e.g., thesis-based work, publications, conference presentations, patents, or open-source technical contributions).
  • Humble and inclusive: seeks to learn, welcomes feedback, and values different perspectives in technical debate.
  • Creates an environment where others can contribute and do their best work.
  • Focused and rigorous: uses data to make decisions, frames hypotheses, designs experiments, and strengthens solutions through iteration and learning.
  • Connects their research to real world impact.
  • Transparent and collaborative: communicates clearly to varied audiences, partners across teams, and builds alignment through evidence to deliver outcomes that matter.
